How to Refuel

Gas stations in Guam are mostly self-serve.

You can find full-service pumps where staff fill the tank, but they charge more than self-serve. Just follow the steps below. It’s easy, even the first time.

Find a self-serve pump

Pull in at a pump labeled “Self Serve.”

“Full Serve” means staff do the fueling for you, at a higher price.

Pick regular unleaded: Shell FuelSave

Only regular unleaded gas goes in this car. At Shell in Guam, look for “Shell FuelSave.” “V-Power” (premium) and “Diesel” (diesel fuel) are the wrong fuels, so skip them. The color of the nozzle differs from station to station, so check the label instead.

Let the cashier know your pump

Inside the store, give the cashier (or a nearby staff member) your pump number and say “Fill up.”

How to fuel up

Open the fuel door and unscrew the cap. Then take the nozzle from the pump and lift the lever it was hanging on. You’re ready to start.
Place the nozzle in the filler opening and squeeze the handle; fuel will start flowing.

The pump clicks off on its own once the tank is full. That’s the sign you’re done. Please don’t squeeze again to add extra fuel; it can overflow or harm the pump equipment. Return the nozzle to its holder.

Pay inside

Once you’re finished, pay at the register and take your receipt.

Bring the receipt with you and show it when you settle up after the rental. Gas prices go up and down often, so we can’t quote them in advance. See the price on the pump display (1 gallon ≈ 3.8 liters).

We’ll let you know where gas stations are when you pick up your car.
All cars go out with a full tank, so fill up at a gas station before bringing the car back. If your tank wasn’t full at pickup, refuel to the same level it was at pickup.
*If you can’t refuel or the tank is short, the fuel will be charged at our standard rates. Our staff will refuel the car, which costs more than refueling on your own, so please fill up before returning the car.
