Cheap Car Rental in Guam: How to Compare the Real Total Cost

To find a genuinely cheap car rental in Guam, compare the total cost for the same car class, rental dates and protection, not just the daily rate shown in search results. Two quotes with similar starting prices can end up far apart once protection, additional drivers, airport fees and young-driver surcharges are added.

Key points
  • Compare every quote on the same basis: the same car class, rental period, protection and number of drivers.
  • Ask each company five questions: Are taxes included? Are there airport fees? Is there a surcharge for drivers under 25? Is mileage unlimited? How much does protection cost per day?
  • At e-Rent-A-Car, full protection (CDW, ZDW and NOC) plus a second driver adds $117 to a 3-day compact rental, and the airport taxi receipt takes $15 off.
  • Rental counters inside the airport often add an airport concession recovery fee and a daily customer facility charge. e-Rent-A-Car operates from an office in Tumon, so neither applies.
  • The lowest quote often leaves protection out. Without collision protection, you pay the full repair bill after an accident, so we recommend adding protection for peace of mind.

What should a Guam rental car quote include?

A useful quote shows every charge you will pay from pickup to return. Before comparing rental companies, check each of these items:

Item Why it affects the total
Daily rate × number of days Rates vary by date and season. Check the exact dates you need.
Taxes and fees Some companies show these only at the final booking step.
Collision protection (CDW) Covers damage to the rental car itself, within its terms. Daily prices vary by company and car class.
Deductible waiver (ZDW or similar) Removes the deductible you would otherwise pay after a CDW claim.
Loss-of-use waiver (NOC or similar) Covers the charge for the days a damaged car cannot be rented.
Additional drivers Usually charged per person, per day.
Child car seats Guam law requires them for young children. Usually charged per seat, per day.
Young-driver surcharge Some companies charge an extra daily fee for drivers aged 21–24.
Mileage A daily mileage limit can add costs on a drive around the island.
Airport fees Charged by companies with counters inside the airport.
Getting to the rental office You may need a taxi or shuttle to reach an office outside the airport.
Calculator, car key, credit card and receipts on a table near the Guam coast
Add up every charge from pickup to return before comparing companies.

Fuel is the one cost that depends on how far you drive. Most companies, e-Rent-A-Car included, provide a full tank and ask you to return the car full.

Which questions reveal the real price?

Five direct questions show whether a low advertised rate will stay low. Here is how e-Rent-A-Car answers them:

Question to ask e-Rent-A-Car’s answer (October 23, 2026)
Are taxes and fees included in the rate? Yes. Taxes and fees are already included, with no service fees added at checkout.
Is there an airport concession or facility fee? No. The office is in Tumon, outside the airport.
Is there a surcharge for drivers aged 21–24? No. Drivers aged 18 and older rent without an age surcharge.
Is mileage unlimited? Yes, for every car class.
How much does protection cost per day? CDW: $17 for classes AS and A, or $22 for classes RV, F, W and LA. ZDW: $10. NOC: $7.

Two more details are worth checking with any rental company:

  • Additional drivers: e-Rent-A-Car charges $5 per person, per day. Drivers who are not on the rental agreement are not covered, so register everyone who will drive.
  • Credit card hold at pickup: e-Rent-A-Car places a temporary $100 hold on your credit card. It is not a rental charge, but it reduces your available credit until the card company releases it.

How much do protection and extras add to a 3-day compact rental?

For two travelers sharing an A-class compact (Toyota Corolla, Mazda3 or similar) for 3 days, full protection and a second driver add $117 to the vehicle charge at e-Rent-A-Car. The airport taxi receipt then takes $15 off, so the total is the vehicle charge plus $102.

Line item Calculation Amount
A-class compact Daily rate for your dates × 3 days Vehicle charge
CDW (collision damage waiver) $17 × 3 days $51
ZDW (zero deductible waiver) $10 × 3 days $30
NOC waiver $7 × 3 days $21
Second driver $5 × 3 days $15
Taxi receipt discount Airport taxi receipt shown at the counter −$15
Total paid to e-Rent-A-Car Vehicle charge + $102

The vehicle rate changes with your dates and the season, so it is not listed here. Enter your own dates on the Cars & Rates page to see it. Taxes are already included, so nothing is added on top.

Other costs to budget for:

  • Taxi from the airport: about $20 for the 1.8-mile (2.8 km) ride to the Tumon office, plus a 10–15% tip. The $15 discount covers most of the fare. You need the receipt, and the discount cannot be combined with other offers.
  • Fuel: refill the tank before you return the car. The cost depends on how far you drive.
  • Return transportation: after you return the car, staff take you to the airport or your hotel at no charge.

How do airport counter fees change the comparison?

If another company rents from a counter inside Guam International Airport, add its airport fees before comparing. Airport counters often charge an airport concession recovery fee, frequently around 11% of the rental price, plus a small customer facility charge for each rental day.

Taxis wait outside arrivals. Keep the receipt for the $15 discount.

As an example, on a $300 rental an 11% concession recovery fee alone adds $33. The difference grows with longer rentals. Fee names and rates vary by company, so check the final booking screen, not the first price you see.

e-Rent-A-Car operates from an office outside the airport, so neither fee is added. The trade-off is a short taxi ride from the terminal, and the $15 receipt discount covers most of that fare.

Is the cheapest quote without protection really cheaper?

No, not once something happens to the car. e-Rent-A-Car’s base rate includes liability protection for injury to other people and damage to their property: $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $50,000 per accident for property damage. It does not cover damage to the rental car itself.

If the rental car is damaged in a covered collision What you pay
No CDW The full repair cost
CDW only Up to the $1,000 deductible
CDW + ZDW No deductible
Without the NOC waiver Plus $250 if the car can still be rented, or $400 if it cannot

A $150 accident processing fee applies to every accident, and some situations are not covered at all. See our guide to avoiding extra rental charges in Guam for the details.

When comparing quotes, include the same protection in each one. A quote that looks $50 cheaper because it leaves protection out can cost far more after one collision. We recommend adding CDW, ZDW and NOC for peace of mind.

Comparison checklist

Before booking, confirm each item for every quote:

  1. The same car class and passenger capacity
  2. The same pickup and return dates and times
  3. Taxes and fees included in the final price
  4. Airport fees, if the counter is inside the airport
  5. Any age surcharge for each driver
  6. Whether mileage is unlimited or capped
  7. Daily prices for CDW, the deductible waiver and the loss-of-use waiver
  8. The cost of the additional drivers and child seats you need

For ways to lower the total after choosing a company, such as sharing one car or renting only on the days you plan to drive, see our budget Guam car rental tips.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest car class at e-Rent-A-Car?

The A-Special economy class (Nissan Versa, Hyundai Venue or similar). It seats five people and fits one large and one small bag. Rates change with your dates, so check the Cars & Rates page for the current price.

Does e-Rent-A-Car add taxes at checkout?

No. Taxes and fees are already included in the rate. Optional extras such as protection, additional drivers and child seats are added only when you choose them.

Do drivers under 25 pay more?

Not at e-Rent-A-Car. Drivers aged 18 and older pay the same rate, with no young-driver surcharge.

Is an office outside the airport worth the taxi ride?

For most travelers, yes. The taxi to the Tumon office is about $20 plus tip, the $15 receipt discount covers most of it, and you avoid the airport fees that counters inside the airport charge.

Summary

The cheapest Guam car rental is the one with the lowest total for the car, dates and protection you actually need. Compare quotes on the same items, ask about taxes, airport fees, age surcharges and mileage, and keep protection in every comparison. The e-Rent-A-Car office is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, so you can pick up your car whenever your flight lands.
